Recycling techniques are at least 50
centuries old but literature on the
subject is scarce. Over the last ten years
recovery techniques have developed,
stimulated by political and economic
factors.
Knowledge of existing recycling tech-niques
is important to recyclers and also
manufacturers of consumer goods.
Following an introduction and a review of
the history of recycling, the chapters fall
into three sections:
-processing techniques
- ancillaries, such as collection,
loading and weighing equipment
available
- techniques for identification,
sorting and separation
The final chapters cover emerging
technologies and the economics of metal
recycling. The emphasis of the handbook
is on the recovery and recycling of metals
as this is where most mechanical
processing has been developed. This
handbook aims to give a readable account
of historical and existing recovery and
recycling techniques, and is generously
illustrated with photographs and diagrams.
Novel and varied techniques are continually
being developed and the authors aim
to give an insight into available and
possible techniques |
